By default, the latest version of RiskTree loads, stores, and saves RiskTrees in JSON format. However, there is also an option to save both RiskTree files and risk assessment reports in a compressed format, called RTZ. This is particularly effective if you have a report that contains a lot of additional text in the notes, evidence, and header sections, as it will reduce the file size considerably.

The RTZ format will also protect the file against inspection by those without access to RiskTree, and casual tampering, as none of the content is human-readable. Please note that the format does not constitute encryption though, and as such it is not sufficient to protect a file that contains sensitive data. Such files should still be encrypted using a standard encryption function if complete protection of the data is required.
